Last weekend we decided we've had enough work for the week, so we headed up the mountain to scout for some deer and elk, with the hunts coming pretty quick. We walked up onto the pond above, just to catch an elk disappear into the trees. We weren't able to see what it was, but anytime you see an elk is a good time. We continued on the hike, heading over to a flat and spring that is about 4 miles up the mountain. On the hike we jumped quite a few deer and elk, but never long enough to see much, less get a good picture.
We came upon the flat, still excited about the amount of animals we had seen, and snapped a few pics. Here is just one. This flat is miles from any road, and we didnt see a single set of boot prints up here. Just how i like it. Just over the hill from this flat is the spring and some little drinking holes, so we snuck as quite as we could, knowing the possibility of seeing horns was pretty good.
We caught a glimpse of this little guy, and it was down hill from there. Next thing you know, we were seeing alot of deer and elk, and alot of horns! I probably dont need to say it, but i am excited for the hunt this year!
